A "lonely" Sunday at the Chang International Circuit saw Alex Lowes miss out on a podium finish in Race 2 in Thailand.

Following his sixth place finish in Saturday's Race 1, Lowes booked himself a front row start for the Sunday event as a result of the new reshuffling grid regulations.

He made a solid start only to have to do it all over again when the race was red flagged.

Reduced to 16 laps, the Pata Yamaha rider again made a good start, one that he hoped would yield a podium result.

But, struggling in the heat and humidity, he lost ground and had to settle for a distant fourth.

He said: "I felt a lot happier in the first part of the race than the second part, which was a little bit lonely as I had a gap in front and a gap behind.

"But it was a solid weekend, and hopefully when we get out to Europe I can make that step forward like I did in Australia.

“In Saturday’s race I wasn’t very happy, even though it was a solid race.

"I really struggled and my target when I get back to Europe is to keep doing what we’re doing.

"I think that where we are as a team, each weekend is going to be different."

He added: "We have to just maximise what we’ve got and get the best results possible for Aragon."
