Aprilia Racing Team rider Aleix Espargaro feels the team are capable of finishing in the top ten of the MotoGP standings after a strong showing in Qatar.
The 27-year-old Spaniard joined Aprilia from Team Suzuki Ecstar in 2017 and in the season's opening race in Qatar he finished sixth on his debut and looked to be on track to do the same in Argentina, in his last outing, before falling.
This weekend's racing heads to Austin, Texas for the third round of the MotoGP Championship.
In an interview with the official MotoGP website, Espargaro said though it was going to be a challenge to stay in the top six but he liked his bike especially the great traction so anything was possible.
"Some tracks we will struggle a little bit more. It's not going to be easy to be always in the top six," Espargaro said. "But sincerely I feel great. I like a lot this bike; in the second part of the race, it's very stable where the other bikes struggle a lot with the traction.
"So I think we can fight for top ten in the championship, which would be great in our first year."
Espargaro added that his dream was to win a MotoGP race and give his team their first ever victory.
"I know that to win a title is - never impossible - but almost impossible... 99%. So to fight for a victory would be fantastic.
"I've had a podium and was fighting for the podium in other races. But to win a race I think is like a dream," Espargaro said.
"We saw last season it's not impossible because nine riders won a race. So I will work hard and it would be even more magic to win with Aprilia, a bike that has never won in MotoGP."
