Former national team captain and AFC Leopards midfield maestro Sammy Taabu collapsed and died in his vehicle moments after doing exercises at Railway Training Institute ground in Nairobi on Friday.
The late Taabu played for Harambee Stars after being discovered in 1970’s by a German coach named Krautzun in one of Olympic Youth Centres set by the government all over the country.
He went on to play for Kenya Premier League side AFC Leopards in the 80’s where he also served as the club assistant coach in the late 1990’s.
Messages of condolences poured in led by FKF President Nick Mwendwa who describe Taabu's demise as a great loss for Kenyan football.
